Horse Racing Tracks in KwaZulu-Natal

South Africa has a number of outstanding horse racing tracks. There is the Arlington Race Course and Fairview Race Course in the Eastern Cape, Bloemfontein Race Course and Vaal Race Course in the Free State, Newmarket Race Course and Turffontein Race Course in Gauteng, Clairwood Turf Club, Greyville Turf Club and Scottsville Race Course in KwaZulu-Natal, the Griqualand West Race Course in the Northern Cape and the Kenilworth Race Course and Durbanville Race Course in the Western Cape.

A number of well known horse racing events are held during the year. The Vodacom July (previously the Durban July) has been held anually since 1897 at the Greyville Turf Club in Durban. The J&B Met is Cape Town's premier event, attracting a large number of visitors to the Kenilworth Race Course. In Johannesburg, the Summer Cup held at the Turffontein Race Course is the major event, with a first prize of R1.2 million.
